Representing four years of exploration through the Owyhee's of Idaho and Oregon. Locations including: Idaho Owyhee badlands outside Marsing, Idaho, Lake Owyhee Dam and 25 mile scenic drive in Nyssa, Oregon.

A steep but short hike brings me to this magnificent location called "The Owyhee's". This is in Idaho outside of Marsing.

Owyhee Greens 2016

This photo scene was captured outside of Marsing, Idaho at a brake stop pull-off area. Walking up the hill and taking in the magnificent scene is breathtaking.

I used a wide angle lens to capture as much of the landscape as I could. Photographed in the spring.

OWYHEE BADLAND SUMMER 2017

A very mysterious location for photos at any time of the year. This is the overlook outside a small town in Idaho called Marsing.
The whispy blue cloudy skies, the rocky terrain and the green brush in the foreground all work well together.

OWHYEE BADLANDS DRY LOOK 2015

Almost Mars-like in appearence, the Owyhee Badlands are located in several parts of Idaho and Oregon.

this photo was captured outside a small town called Marsing, idaho.

Notice the different layers of colors from the pale blue sky, down to the tan mountains.

A cold morning in the Owyhee's gave way to these beautiful winter scenes. 2018

It was an overcast sky, but enough light coming thru to shine on the distant mountains.

I photographed several different scenes with a one mile area.
As I watched the changing cloud formations, I moved my point of view around the Owyhee's.

Gone Fishin 2019

The perfect opportunity to photograph a fly fisherman on the Owyhee River in Oregon. The Spring colors in the river show up so vivid in the shaded areas.

Gone Fishin Two 2019

This is a popular fly fishing stream below the Lake Owyhee Dam in Oregon. The foliage is lush reflecting vivid spring colors on the water.

MAGNIFICENT OWYHEES 2017

This scene was photographed from the top of Lizard Butte in Marsing, Idaho at a very steep 350 feet. This was the only way to capture the Grandeur of the Owyhee mountain ranges in Idaho.

The morning light captured on the back of the Owyhee's shows the deep canyons and shadows.

OWYHEE PASTELS LAYERS 2017

Photographed in March of 2015 at Lake Owyhee State Park in Adrian, Oregon.
Hitting the scene at the right time of the day you can clearly see a ray of different colors on the lake.

OWHYEE CLIFFS 2016

A soft blue sky perched behind a jagged Owyhee cliff. Photographed outside the Lake Owyhee State park in Adrian, Oregon.

You can see a bit of green grass on the bottom of the cliff. An old fence post gives nice depth of field.

A FALL MORNING ON LAKE OWYHEE 2016

This photo shows off the brilliant colors and the aqua blue water. In background you can see the rugged terrain of the Owyhee Mountains.

The foreground is in complete shadow and other areas show the Dynamic morning light.

LAKE OWYHEE FALL  2016

An early morning shows off the aqua blue colors on the lake. Dynamic lighting shows off the mountains and shadows quite well.

A B+W polarizer was used to cut the UV glare and bring out the natural colors.

LOW WATER LINES, LAKE OWYHEE 2016

This photo shows the low water on Lake Owyhee. The deep blue water plays well against the rocks.

The mountains are a perfect brown contrast to the deep blue water and pale blue sky.

LAKE OWYHEE REFLECTIONS 2016

This photo was taken in a remote location on Lake Owyhee in Oregon only 45 minutes from Meridian, ID.

The water looks like glass, the skies a pale blue.
You will never come to this location and see the same scene twice. The seasons change as do the appearance.

SNIVELY HOT SPRINGS 2016

Photographed around the upper part of the Owyhee River Canyon, Snively Hot Springs come out of the ground near the road at the Idaho Border.

The water is way too hot to measure with a 120-degree spa thermometer and also too hot to step in, until it blends with the river 300 feet away.

OWYHEE, SPRING REFLECTION 2016

A summer's evening, a quiet location and landscape secenes to last forever. This location was photographed at Lake Owyhee Dam .

I wanted to capture the clouds relfecting into the lake and the distant light on the Owyhee mountains.

OWYHEE'S POISON CREEK

Found outside a little town called Marsing, Idaho.
These desert rolling hills looked interesting and with the clouds hanging over it gave an eary look.


The road to this location is called "Poison Creek"

ROCK POINT, LAKE OWYHEE

Rock Point Lake Owyhee was created by using a greater depth of field with a Canon 5D Mark III body and a Canon 16-35MM L F/2.8

The was early Spring shows off a milky green color. A B+W MRC Polarizer was used to control the water glare.

UNWORLDLY OWYHEES

At times the water is unworldly like at Lake Owyhee.
Capturing the water at its greenest has been during the Spring months of the year when the water is at its calmest.

OWYHEE SILHOUETTE

This goes to show any photographer, that waiting for the perfect time is always best!

In the editing process I really wanteds to show off the sunset, so used the black level to darker the mountain creating a sihluette scene.
